One Passport · what Grain SA may see
Only what you permitted
You permissioned nothing to Grain SA — the Passport stays private to you. Grain SA does not become a lender because the Passport exists.
Grain SA sees only what you permitted for Grain SA purposes. Production history and anything permissioned to Land Bank for assessment are not visible here. Grain SA supports the programme. Land Bank or the relevant approved institution remains responsible for assessment, eligibility, underwriting where applicable, pricing, financing or settlement terms, and any final decision. Grain SA does not make those decisions. The platform does not make those decisions.

Harvest · Digital Product Passport
Your maize is coming off the field.
The season's evidence can now connect to the physical commodity. A Digital Product Passport travels with the harvest — through storage, market and delivery — as one persistent product record.
CommodityMaize
Quantity≈250 t
Product / Lot IDGSA-L-001
GradeTBD
An evidence / provenance record for the physical commodity — not legal title or a warehouse receipt. Recording is separate from sharing.
Creating it publishes nothing — sharing to a market is a later, separate decision.
Ping ExchangeMarket · no lot
No lot listed
Your Digital Product Passport is private to you. Recording is not sharing — nothing is available to any market until you choose to make it available.
Grain SA has received nothing. Creating the Passport shared no product information with Grain SA, a buyer or the market.
Ping Exchange is the digital-commodities market / discovery / RFQ layer. When you make a lot available, an appropriately authorised buyer could see the commodity, quantity, origin and product evidence — never your private financial or assessment data. Grain SA is not the buyer, seller, broker or settlement counterparty.

Thabo · My Farm
Storage · Product evidence
Your maize arrives at the silo.
The physical harvest moves into storage. The storage operator generates the intake, weight and storage evidence — you allow it onto your Digital Product Passport. You do not create the silo measurement, and neither does Grain SA.
Product / Lot IDGSA-L-001
CommodityMaize · ≈250 t
Silo intakePendingNot yet received into storage
Storage / pickup locationPendingNot yet known
The evidence stays attributed to the storage operator. Grain SA does not perform or verify the silo measurement.
Adding it puts the operator's evidence on your Passport — it does not list the lot or share it with a buyer.
Ping ExchangeMarket · no lot
Still no lot listed
Your commodity is now in storage and the Passport is stronger — but storage does not list it. Nothing is available to the market until you choose to make it available.
The market has received nothing. The storage evidence lives on your private Passport. The storage operator holds its own intake record; the market and Grain SA do not.
When you list the lot, an authorised buyer will want to know the commodity, quantity, quality and where it is stored — the same storage evidence, then shared on purpose. Grain SA is not the buyer, seller, broker or settlement counterparty; physical delivery would be handled by a logistics provider later.

Market · Your decision
Take this to market — or keep it private?
Your lot is stored and the Passport carries harvest and storage evidence. Nothing has been shared with any market yet. Only this choice makes market-relevant information available.

Neither is preselected. Keeping it private is completely valid — you keep everything and the story continues.
Ping ExchangeMarket · no lot

You kept the commodity private. Nothing was made available and no buyer gained any access.
Your Passport, storage evidence and pickup reference stay yours. You can make the lot available later — the market only ever sees what you choose to share.

Physical fulfilment · DP World
Your maize still has to move.
A buyer never receives an abstract token. Your Passport already knows what the product is, its lot, quality evidence, where it is stored and where it can be collected — so a DP World freight request can be prepared from the same information. Record once, reuse.

DP World is the connected freight / physical-fulfilment capability. Preparing a request readies logistics from your Passport — it does not move grain by itself.
Prepared locally from your Passport — it shares nothing with DP World and books no freight. You decide whether to share.

DP World can prepare physical fulfilment from the Passport once the farmer readies and shares it.

Only what you permitted joins the network as an aggregated signal. What you kept private stays private — it does not appear here. Your Digital Product Passport, Financial Passport and private records are never centrally collected.
A national network without a national database
Grain SA coordinates from permissioned and appropriately aggregated signals — it does not own farmer data, has no universal visibility into farms, and gains no automatic access to Financial Passports, Digital Product Passports, Land Bank or DP World information. Permissions are never inherited across recipients. Individual ownership and collective intelligence coexist.
Grain SA supports coordination, programme facilitation, aggregated demand visibility, industry intelligence, market readiness and connecting farmers with the right service providers. It is not a bank, lender, insurer, buyer, seller, commodity owner, broker, settlement counterparty or freight provider — the specialised parties remain responsible for their own decisions and services.
One farmer-controlled record can support many authorised services — Grain SA, Land Bank, DP World, authorised buyers — each a separate purpose-specific permission, without being surrendered to one central owner. Your personalised economics appear later in Your Digital Season. Illustrative future-state demonstration.

Your butterfly effect
You kept most things private — and the season still worked end to end. Nothing appeared anywhere you did not permit it. That is the point.
An early choice changed something much later. Every consequence above is your actual state — none is invented.
This was one farmer's season. At scale, thousands of independently controlled seasons create permissioned collective intelligence — without anyone surrendering their records to a central owner. Your personalised economics stay yours; the Programme Definition and documents come next.
Illustrative demonstration values throughout — not approved pricing, credit decisions, executed sales or physical deliveries.
